The Chargers announced on Saturday that they’ve placed linebacker Kyzir White on the injured reserve list and signed cornerback Jeff Richards off the practice squad.
The team’s fourth-round pick (199th overall) out of West Virginia, White played in the team’s first three games before missing the past four with a knee injury. He tallied 19 tackles, one tackle for loss, three passes defensed and one interception during those games. The 6-2, 218-pound rookie memorably sealed the Chargers’ win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 2 with a late interception.
Meanwhile, Richards joins the Chargers’ 53-man roster after spending most of the past two seasons on the team’s practice squad. The 6-2, 210-pound cornerback out of Emporia State initially joined the Chargers off waivers from the Carolina Panthers last September. He was with the Chargers throughout the entire offseason and had an impressive preseason, totaling 11 tackles and one pass defensed in four games. He most recently spent the beginning of this season on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice squad.
