Mike - Chargers lose in overtime due to 5 yard penalty and dumb mistakes

The Jags were attempting a 35 yard field goal in overtime. Chargers coach Anthony Lynn iced Lambo. Then refs called a delay of game on the Chargers, which made it a 30-yard attempt. That made all the difference, because the Chargers partially blocked Lambo’s kick but it just made it through for the win. The Chargers had cut Lambo in the pre season and he made them pay today.

The Chargers could have put the game on ice earlier  in the fourth quarter with a pick six but the interception was dropped. It was a hard fought game with both defenses playing their hearts out. The Jags abandoned the run the entire second half as the Chargers were shutting down the running game early on. Another tough loss for the Chargers. Another one possession loss. It was another game the Chargers could have, should have won.

Dumb mistake number one: The Chargers had a 17-14 lead, and the defense just picked off Blake Bortles. But instead of advancing the the ball up the field after the interception, the defender just pointed his finger and stepped out of bounds like they had already won or something. Not to mention, giving up key field position in the process.

Dumb mistake number two: All they had to do was keep the clock running. On first down, Eckler got the carry but did not secure the ball with two hands and fumbled it away on a hard hit. The Jaguars recovered and ran it in for a score — which was overturned. But the Jags eventually tied it up with a field goal to send the game into overtime.
