So this may sound crazy but it seems like the NFL is now secretly sneaking in a free fashion show in this week two preseason match up between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Los Angeles Rams.The Rams fans have been raving about their new look uniforms on twitter and calling them a 10, but the Chargers organization went all in this year and the Bolts are taking it all the way back to their original look, along with some pretty clever upgrades and versions. So both teams have very beautiful blues and sexy yellows, so watching these two teams face off is going to be very easy on the eyes, regardless if you are a Rams fan or a Chargers fan. Other notable things to mention about this match up is both teams get to test drive their new stadium at the same time. Not very often something like this happens, if ever.. The Chargers unveiled a grand total of six new uniforms that are modern, timeless, and pay tribute to the history of the franchise all at once. For starters, they put numbers back on the already beautiful white helmets. Then they slightly changed the numbers on the jerseys to a rounded modern font. Great job with the numbers all around. The Chargers gave their helmets a fresh new look with three new designs: One helmet has a yellow lightning bolt with powder blue accents and numbers, one helmet has true blue accents, and one helmet features a navy bolt with navy numbers, with the bolt outlined in yellow. Amazing! The Bolts unveiled four new look jerseys: a sweet powder blue, a simply white, a very true blue, and of course, a navy. All jerseys have the classic, iconic Charger bolt proudly displayed on the shoulders, which gives it a clean, no nonsense classy look. The Chargers also have four different pants options: simple white, true blue, dark navy, and bright yellow. Again, there’s the classic lightning bolt on each leg. LACI feels the Chargers have the baddest, sexiest uniforms in the entire NFL! It is just ridiculous how nice the Chargers uniforms look! Now if LACI had to pick our favorite look, it would definitely be the dark, navy blue version, mostly because it is so fresh. Overall, you really can’t go wrong with any of the combinations, especially the Classic look. The Chargers design team clearly hit their uniform redesign and unveiling out of SOFI Stadium. It really is spectacular!
Now the Rams had teased a new logo for weeks and weeks and even planted a sneak peek of the new helmet in the graphics when they were on the clock during last month’s draft. So let’s start with the only good thing about the Rams uniform, the helmet. The Rams went with a true blue color which matches the classic jersey color they sported right up through the 1990’s and recently returned to. It does looks fine, as do the new ram horns, which feature a line in the design the makes the horns look way more three-dimensional. All in all, LACI gives the Rams a thumbs up on the helmet design, a very solid look! Now as far as the rest of the Rams uniform, well, quite simply, it sucks. It is awful. Just for the record, that same sentiment has been echoed by NFL some football fans, including LA Rams fans, all over social media. The weird number font is an unremarkable rounded look and the way off-white look resembles a low budget high school uniform. The yellow is simply hard to see against the white with no outline. Weak at best. The home blue jersey is a nice blue and comes with two options for the pants: a yellow with a plain jane blue line and basic white trim, and a solid blue with a white line that simply fades to yellow. Not so flashy as Chargers. The home jerseys would have been okay if they were just not so simple, but not all teams get to sport a lightning bolt down the pant leg, only the Super Chargers! Overall, the new Rams uniform is just too simple and clean for the mighty NFL. It’s as if the Rams were trying to appeal to the people in Southern California who don’t even watch the sport. In the battle of Los Angeles NFL uniforms, the Chargers are the clear winners. If LACI were giving out letter grades, the Chargers get an A+ and the Rams get a F. See you there! Stay safe!
