Buona Forchetta Encinitas, our third location, blends award winning Neapolitan-style pizzas and Northern Italian upscale entrees in a family-friendly, approachable space. Located in Encinitas, this location boasts indoor seating as well as an outside patio and a small room for private events. Inside, a gilded oven churns out classic creations, while the main kitchen serves up chef-driven pastas and entrees. Owner Matteo Cattaneo brought the Italian warehouse-style eatery to life.

The original. The first. The restaurant that started it all. Nestled on the leafy corner of 30th and Beech, is the Buona Forchetta San Diego original location. Buona Forchetta South Park opened in 2011 to rave reviews of its authentic charm and food alike. Since its opening, it has garnered awards such as the coveted Gambero Rosso for Best Pizzeria, numerous San Diego Magazine Best Of restaurant awards, and OpenTable dining accolades. The Story;
This story begins with a passion for authentic Italian cuisine and a deep-rooted commitment to quality. In 2011, Italian-born Matteo Cattaneo launched Buona Forchetta to recreate the warm and inviting atmospheres of Italian trattorias. The demand for Buona Forchetta’s authentic Italian cuisine led to the opening of additional locations in Liberty Station, Encinitas, San Marcos, Coronado, and San Clemente, each one embracing the spirit and passion that defined the original. The newest addition to the famiglia, Newport, is scheduled to fire up the oven mid-summer. This will be the second Orange County location.

The Buona Forchetta family has also grown to include five additional concepts including Matteo for a Cause, a nonprofit restaurant located in South Park, San Diego. 100% of Matteo’s profits benefit regularly rotating, community-based charities and causes.

It’s true! Buona Forchetta will be opening it’s seventh location summer 2024. Buona Forchetta Newport, the second Orange County outpost, will continue the tradition of authentic Italian in the beautiful Peninsula Village area near the popular Newport marina.
