The 2-4 Chargers have had two poor performances in a row and have trailed 112 of the previous 120 minutes of action. The Chargers have been outscored 38-0 the last two first halves. This is not looking good as slow starts, injuries and multiple turnovers have hurt the 2019 Chargers big time. The Chargers would have to win 10 in a row to match their impressive record of 12-4 last year. Its just not the same team. The Melvin Gordon holdout certainly did not help, but key injuries have plagued this team. It had been 20 possessions before Rivers connected with Hunter Henry on a 5 yard TD pass in the 4th quarter last Sunday. Rivers has 6 interceptions on the season and has thrown 4 the past two games. Austin Ekeler is still the main theme as Gordon replaced Jackson, but Ekeler has been slowed to only 121 yards the past two games after amassing 490 yards from scrimmage the first four games. Ekeler had his least productive game last week gaining only 28 yards on 8 touches. If the Chargers do not snap out of it and start playing better, this could get even uglier. The Chargers need to score early and take care of the ball. That would be a great start. A win this week could light a spark and perhaps even some thunder which they desperately need.
